For hope

A Light That Morning Keeps

3 min read

“His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.”

Lamentations 3:22-23

Hope has a bad reputation. We treat it like wishful thinking — a way of pretending the hard thing isn’t hard. But biblical hope is sturdier than that. It is trust with its eyes open.

Lamentations was written from the rubble of a ruined city. And right in the middle of the grief, the writer stops and remembers: God’s mercies are new every morning. Not recycled. New.

Whatever you spent yesterday, tomorrow’s mercy is already on its way. Morning is coming, and it will bring more grace than the day can hold.

A prayer

Lord, thank You that Your mercy is new every morning — that I don’t run You dry. Meet me again at dawn. Give me hope that is honest and strong, rooted in who You are. Amen.
