For hope

A Light That Morning Keeps

3 min read

“His compassions never fail. They are new every morning.”

Lamentations 3:22-23

Hope has a bad reputation. We treat it like wishful thinking, a way of pretending the hard thing is not hard. But the hope Scripture describes is sturdier than that. It is trust with its eyes wide open.

Lamentations was written from the rubble of a ruined city. And right in the middle of the grief, the writer stops and remembers: the Lord’s mercies are new every morning. Not recycled. New.

Whatever you spent yesterday, tomorrow’s mercy is already on its way. Morning is coming, and it will bring more grace than the day can hold. So end today by handing Him what is heavy and asking Him for fresh mercy at dawn.

A prayer

Lord, thank You that Your mercy is new every morning and that I cannot run You dry. Meet me again at dawn. Give me a hope that is honest and strong, rooted in who You are. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
